Social Media: Ever-Changing Nature

Image
Social Media can be termed as any media which can connect us to the social sphere, so, with that definition, our beloved carrier pigeons, postcards to telegrams were our relics of social media of the past. They were slow but helped us to be connected with our near and dear ones. With the advent of the Industrial revolution, especially the 4th Industrial revolution along with present globalization, there is compression of time and space, the speed of information has increased manyfold, and so is our interaction for the social sphere. It has not only made people global citizens but at the same time increase the reach and impact of the interactions. Starting with Yahoo groups, Orkut, and Facebook to present age Twitter, Tiktok, and Snapchat the landscape of social interactions has taken a paradigm change and the dynamics are changing rapidly. It has given the freedom to interact with a wide range of people, from our clique of the same liking, and acts as a source of more rel...

In the defense of Urdu

It is generally understood that, in Indian colloquial conversations specifically in north India, until the conversation is understandable it's "Hindi" and the moment the tedious words come in, it is termed as "Urdu". Above are a few of the lines Javed Akhtar said in the Jash-e-Rekhta 2022's inaugural session, so, I am just writing whatever I understood from his speech on the development of the Urdu Language. Before dwelling on the evolution of Urdu, we need to understand, what is the language first or how we define a language, does the vocabulary solely constitutes the language? but this argument can be easily refuted by the example of  Hinglish, where the language is Hindi with a hint of English words in between, still, it can be put in the category of Hindi. So, can the script in which the language is written be termed as the sole proprietor of the language? we can easily negate this assumption too, as different languages like Hindi, Italian, and English...

Air pollution

Earlier in India, we used to have four seasons, but in recent decades a new season has been added to the Indian calendar year, the months from November to January are marked by the season of smog and choking cities. Although it was considered to be the sacred season of northern India, now even the southern states like Bangaluru and Mumbai are witnessing AQI as high as 400, thus, it has become a pan-Indian phenomenon. As it has become a country-wide phenomenon and not restricted to the Northern states we need to bring a paradigm shift for tackling the problem. We need not only the strategy to tackle the problem, but we need to focus on the origin of the problem too. Contrary to belief, the major cause has also shifted from geographical and atmospheric phenomena to anthropogenic factors. According to the latest assessment by the Centre for Science and Environment, vehicular pollution in general accounts for 50% of the total concentration of PM2.5. In north India stubble burning acc...

RBI Digital Rupee

RBI has commenced India's first Digital Rupee pilot project has commenced in the wholesale segment. The use case for this pilot is the settlement of secondary market transactions in government securities and nine banks have been identified for participation in this pilot project. According to the Central Bank, using the digital rupee in the wholesale segment is expected to make the interbank market more efficient and reduce transaction costs by pre-empting the need for settlement guarantee infrastructure or collateral to mitigate settlement risk. RBI also plans to launch the first pilot in the Digital Rupee-Retail segment within a month in select locations in closed user groups comprising customers and merchants. The digital rupee would be using blockchain technology and can be accessed through the bank wallet for peer-to-peer transactions. As it doesn't have any tangible existence, it will be operating in the virtual world only. Even though it doesn't provide the anonymi...
